Posted by Jacob Ross on Monday, November 30, 2009 6:16

Share a wishlist of items from any website with Wishpot.com and share it with your friends and family on your facebook.com profile!

Wishpot lets you connect using your Facebook account so it’s easy to sign up.  Just goto http://www.wishpot.com and login using your Facebook.com account.

Next, click the “My Wishpot” tab and get a shortcut button for your browser. You can let Wishpot.com install it to your Internet Explorer or Firefox, or you can add it to you favorites bar manually. This will enable you to add stuff to your wishlist on the fly!

Now you can go to any website and save a product from any merchant website.  In this example, I am saving Whiskey Cubes from ThinkGeek.com.

After you have spent some time adding all the cool stuff to add to your list, you can add the Facebook application to your Facebook account.

Go back to your wishpot account, and select the “Tools” tab,…

Click the instructions link under “Tools for sharing a wish list”,…

and at the bottom of the page, you can get the Facebook.com application.

The final step, on your profile add a new link by clicking on the + and select the “Shop” item from the drop down menu.

That’s it! Now you can post your list on your status or to your friends as a message.  I hope this has been helpful and don’t forget to leave me comments!

I liked the idea of making an online wishlist and putting it on my facebook page, but I didn’t really like the way wishpot works, so I ended up using another site called myregistry.com. I just found it a lot more user-friendly and easy, so that’s another option if anyone else has been frustrated with wishpot.

Thank for sharing Amanda! True there are other websites that do the same, I actually had issues with Wishpot.com too, but it would have taken a lot of time to run through all of them :)

Jacob, nice post and possibly the most detailed I’ve come across so far.
I work at Wishpot and I’d be happy to hear what you (and Amanda too) think should be fixed or any feature you’d like to see.

    Cheers
